Quimera

Quimera

Quimera, is a vocalist and founder of the New York based Symphonic Rock band Quimera Music.

Known simply as Quimera (pronounced kimera), she was born in Mexico to a Mexican-Italian mother and Basque father. She moved to USA at an early age to pursue an education in fashion design as well as seeking better health care. Quimera is a DES (diethylstilbestrol) daughter, the fertility medication that was prescribed worldwide to pregnant women from the late 1930's up to the early 1980's in the mistaken belief that it prevented miscarriages and premature baby deliveries without health risks.

Quimera began her professional music career in 2008. By the end of 2009 her first solo album 'Love and Madness' released under the Argentinean label Twilight Records, to very favorable critic reviews and support from radio and fans.

In 2010, Quimera's voice was included in the soundtrack for the independent film Somewhere In Between, written by Patrick Rundbladh. Also in 2010, the song When Tomorrow Comes, especially written for the children of The Smile Train Charity released. Quimera spent most of 2011 touring and working on Quimera Music's new album along with Producer Patrick Rundbladh.

On March 13, 2012 Quimera Music's second full studio album titled IMMORTAL was released. Fully produced by Patrick Rundbladh, IMMORTAL is a double album expected to solidify Quimera Music's place in the mainstream world of music.

In Quimera's own words:

Music is the voice of the human spirit. It can go beyond language, beyond age, beyond nationality and skin color, straight into the mind and heart of each one of us.

I believe that music should provoke exaltation and inspiration. To me, music is one of the best vehicles to spread messages of hope, change and awareness. A good example is our song 'Danse Macabre' which Patrick and I wrote after taking a walk on a beach that was completely ridden with garbage and destruction from vacationers who had just returned to their homes from their holiday in the sun.

Change can only happen collectively and through awareness and we all need to help spread the messages of hope and change in any way we can.
